The Last Day Of 2015

The amount of times I've tried writing this post and I've just ended up deleting it all and starting again.  I had hoped to write something interesting but I really don't think that is going to happen!

2015 has been a good year for me.  Sure there have been times where I wish certain things never happened but all in all 2015 has been an amazing year.  I've met some amazing people and got to do some pretty cool things which I am extremely grateful for!

Thank you to my lovely readers, thank you.  Thank you for sticking around even when I don't post for a while, thank you for your lovely comments, just a massive thank you!

Whatever you get up to tonight, I hope you have amazing fun and bring in the New Year however you want!  I'm staying in and will be watching movies and the fireworks with some of my favourite people!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Melbourne Holiday: Bourke Street Mall Christmas Windows

Something that I have always wanted to see - the Bourke Street Windows.  I honestly would have been happy to see them at any time of the year but it was amazing to see them at Christmas time!  This year marked 60 years of the Christmas Windows tradition and it was such a lovely display!

This years was theme and was based around an Australian book, Little Dog and the Christmas Wish, and it was awesome to see all 6 of the scenes.  The amount of work that had gone into every window display for this Christmas tradition was insane and the detail was just incredible!

It was quite busy, school had finished for the day, so there were a lot of children around!  And tourists, although we could have been classified as tourists ourselves!  Either way, I loved seeing the window display!

Sorry about the reflection with all of these photos!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Melbourne Holiday: Up in the sky & getting reacquainted with Melbourne

At the start of December I went on a little holiday to Melbourne with a friend from university.  This little holiday had been a long time in the making and was essentially revolving around us going to the Ed Sheeran concert!  I don't really go on holidays and the only time I'd go to Melbourne would be for music competitions so I was super excited!

We left Tassie in the mid-afternoon and I was happy that I scored the window seat on the plane!  I have nothing wrong with sitting in the middle seat, or the isle seat but I just love watching the world go by and the view is just amazing.  It really puts a lot of things into perspective and does make you feel incredibly tiny in the whole scheme of things!

When we landed in Melbourne, we had planned on grabbing our suitcase and buying some sushi as we were both a bit hungry having not eaten for a couple of hours, but we ended up just getting our suitcase and going to the SkyBus which would take us closer to Melbourne.  We were lucky and got a double decker bus and we say up top!  I'm glad I said to not sit right at the front because the guys in front of us said it made them feel pretty sick!!  We were dropped off at a transit place, where we then had to catch another bus to our hotel.  I'm not the strongest person and our driver was really helpful and helped me with the suitcase both getting on and off the bus!  It was so nice to be back in Melbourne and see new and familiar places!  I could definitely live there!

We were dropped off at where we'd be staying for the next couple of days, City Edge Apartments North Melbourne, and again I was helped by a kind gentleman with carrying my suitcase up the stairs!  We grabbed our key and quickly found our room.  It was on the ground floor looking onto little street that didn't look busy and was a spacious enough for us both to be comfortable for the trip!  After unpacking a few things and having a peek around the room we decided to go for a walk around Melbourne.

I ended up taking us in the wrong way (whoops, we just went on the scenic version) and when we actually got to where we initially wanted to go, I was extremely jealous with what I saw.  There were so many shops which Launceston and Tasmania doesn't have!  Countless little boutiques and home ware stores, oh it was amazing!  I'd been told by a family friend to make sure I visited the Emporium and Melbourne's GPO (an old post office bulding and oh my goodness.  I was just chuffed that I got to walk past an actual Chanel store!  We grabbed some sushi and decided to navigate our way through the massive building by going to the top floor and have a look around and then go down a floor and do the same until we had been on every floor.  We saw a little store for Adriano Zumbo who is an incredible (and I mean INCREDIBLE!) chef and patisserie and we knew we were going to have to come back and buy a treat!

I am always looking online to see what H&M have and it was like a dream to go to one of their stores and it was massive!  And also pretty packed with shoppers!  I wish we didn't have a luggage weight restriction because I would have purchased a few things!  As much as I loved seeing all the clothes I spent a lot of time upstairs look at the home wares and again, I could have bought so much!!

And can we just talk about the makeup selection that is in Melbourne.  Oh my goodness.  I was like a kid in a candy shop!  Seeing products which bloggers and vloggers have spoken about, and seeing how good they were for myself.  I'm pretty happy with my restraint because I'll say it again, I could have bought so much!  The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder is one of the most stunning products I have ever laid on!  Both the packing and the product - I was in love!  Made one of the ladies who worked there laugh because I was just looking around in awe!  I very nearly caved when I went to Mac.  I've wanted to get something from Mac for such a long time and saw so many products which I wish I could have bought!  I settled for taking a photo haha such restraint!

So this was part of my first day in Melbourne!  I'll be having more posts up soon on the rest of this little holidays so I hope you'll look forward reading them!

Have you ever been to Melbourne?  Let me know!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Lush Sakura Bath Bomb

So quite a long time ago, one of my friends was kind enough to gift me a Lush bath bomb!  I was given the Sakura Bath Bomb and had only ever tried one bath bomb previously and absolutely loved it (you can check out that post here!), I was a little excited really!

Only problem it took me a few months to actually get around to having the bath... Whoops!  But after the stinker of a day we had yesterday, I left like a bath was in order and grabbed the Lush bag and was ready for a relaxing bath!

First thing I noticed about this bath bomb that it was very fragrant, very sweet and floral like.  It also looked so cute and in my mind I was half tempted to not use it because I just loved how it looked.  This is what Lush says about the Sakura Bath Bomb:

Inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms that bloom for just a short period of time in the spring, Sakura is our fragrant Bath Ballistic that brings the hopeful feeling of springtime to us year-round.  The gorgeous white Ballistic is speckled pink with hints of blue sea salt to represent soft-coloured cherry blossoms against the spring sky. The gentle fragrance of jasmine, mimosa and orange blossoms float up from the water and sweep you away to a place of beauty and ease. The soft fragrance lasts in your hair and on your skin so you can take Sakura’s peaceful feeling with you.

This is definitely a good choice of bath bomb if you want to have a super relaxing bath.  It's not an extravagant bath bomb, but a rather gentle and subtle one.  It starts to fizzle up right as it comes into contact with the water and if you didn't catch a whiff of it's gorgeous aroma you definitely will now!  The bath water, although the colour of the water didn't change all that much, was incredibly smooth and silky.  My skin felt and still feels soft!  The little coloured bath salts fizzled and dissolved slowly around you as well which was so nice!

Have you ever tried the Sakura Bath Bomb?  Let me know and also which ones you think I should try next?  I was in heaven when I went to a Lush store in Melbourne but luggage weight restrictions are a bugger!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Oh Christmas Tree - Some Snippets

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Such pleasure do you bring me!

I do love a Christmas tree.  I love trees in general so Christmas trees are just amazing!  Mum set up our tree this year, as a surprise for me when I got back from my little holiday in Melbourne and boy did it put a smile on my face when I arrived back home!  Yes I was incredibly excited to see my family but seeing the Christmas tree in the window was just the best :)

I had planned on taking more photos of the decorations we currently have on the tree, however, just as I was starting to take photo I noticed a spider.  Now I don't like spiders very much, and I wasn't too keen on a spider leaping out at me at any moment, so I didn't take photos of every decoration!  But here are some of my favourites :)

Some of the ornaments are old, some are new and one of them I even made myself!  I'd one day love to have a real Christmas tree... I'm trying to picture how it would smell and ah I think it would be amazing!

As pretty as our Christmas tree is, I'm a little hesitant of it thanks to the spider which is now roaming free somewhere...  Would probably make an excellent home for a spider, just as long as they don't jump out at me!  Let us just hope that it has made it outside where there are real trees it can get acquainted with!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Christmas Decor Inspiration

I'll be honest, I've never been a massive fan of tinsel.  It goes everywhere, it makes a right royal mess and you end up finding tinsel in places where tinsel isn't meant to be!  Some people absolutely nail the art of tinsel decoration but I'm not one of those people.

Being a person who studies interior design at university I'll always get the comments like "oh your home must look AMAZING" or "we should get you to come over and dress our place" and I just end up standing there going "ermmmm" and trying to think of a way to get out of the conversation!!  I absolutely love seeing how other people decorate their homes for the Christmas season and have spent I don't know how many hours scrolling through Pinterest looking for some inspiration!

I know when I was little I was all about sticking everything on the tree and I mean everything!  I remember and I really want to ask my younger self what I was thinking, but I remember putting pegs on the tree.  Yep pegs that you use to hold up your washing.   Ah yes, budding interior from the earlier ages!  I think my style has evolved greatly from my younger years and this year particularly I've really loved simple Christmas decor.  We all know the saying less is more and all of the images I've especially taken a liking too are definitely more tree over ornaments!

Also who says your Christmas tree needs to be massive?  I love the idea of a smaller one, a little cute one that you can pop in a cute pot and have on your coffee table or a side table by the couch or your favourite arm chair!

I'm slowly building up my collection of Christmas tree ornaments and decorations and I can't wait for the day when I have my own place and get to decorate my own tree!  I've got some ornaments up on my cork board at the moment and will be popping them on our Christmas Tree very soon!  I have a board on Pinterest full of what is inspiring me this Christmas season and if you want to check that out you can right here!

Let me know what has inspired you this Christmas season!  And also if anyone else is like me and isn't the biggest fan of tinsel! ehehehh

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx
