My 5 Favourite Podcasts

The Podcast app is one I only started using after my brother mentioned it to me and also when Tyler Oakley started his own Podcast.  I never thought I’d be massively into podcasts and I’ve only really touched the surface on the podcasts are out there but it’s always good to just dip your toes in instead of diving straight in and getting swamped.

I do listen to podcast episodes on and off but I have 5 which I am subscribed too and you’re going to get to hear all about them!  So in no particular order other than how they’re appeared in the app….

At Home With…  This is my most recent podcast that I’ve subscribed too and it’s by two lifestyle content creators on the internet that you would probably know, Lily from Lily Pebbles and Anna from The Anna Edit.  When they said they’d be doing a podcast, I didn’t know what to expect.  I really enjoy watching and reading both of their YouTube channels and blogs so was curious to see how this would work for them.  I’m naturally a nosy person and their podcast takes you into the homes of individuals that they admire, taken a tour of their home and they talk all about it and if you're a lover of interior and like me being a nosy person you're going to love this.  They're interviewed some amazing people, my favourite episodes would have had to be Giovana Fletcher and Zoella but it was also nice to be introduced to some people that I'd never heard of before!

Hamish & Andy.  If you’re from Australia you would be familiar with their names.  Hamish & Andy are an iconic duo who have dominated (yeah I’ll keep that word in hahah) the radio stations for 10 years I believe it is and this podcast is essentially their radio show.  Minus the music and ads you get on the radio.  The only time I listen to the radio is when I’m in the car or if I’m listening to it on my radio app I have on my phone and for times when I don’t have any wifi, it’s nice to have this playing.  Hamish and Andy are hilarious!  Easily my favourite radio station and it’ll be sad when this year ends as they’re finishing their radio broadcasting this year :(

Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig.  Hosted by the internet superstar that is Grace Helbig, as the name of the podcast suggests, this podcast interviews a range of YouTubers and nothing is too deep to talk about haha!  Being a person who loves YouTube, this podcast I love because I get to hear my favourite YouTubers as well as be introduced to so many new ones that I doubt I ever would have found.  Grace is hilarious and I have my answer for one of her all time classic questions, worst poop story using only three words...  But you're never going to find out what those words are!

Ladies Who Lunch.  Brought to you by Ingrid Nilsen and Cat Valdes, this podcast I think everyone should listen to.  I love this and can't praise it enough because they talk about topics which are usually hushed and kept under the table, and I think it's really important for a voice to be brought to so many of the topics they speak of.  Sex, relationships, social phobias and so much more, they talk about it all, and they bring their own differing opinions to the table which is refreshing.  It's all well and good to hear to people praising the same thing but I love the differing of opinions these ladies have in certain topics and it's nice to hear arguments which come from different places.  Many claps from me for this podcast!

Psychobabble with Tyler Oakley & Korey Kuhl.
A classic!  This specific podcast is why I started using the app and I looooooove it!  Already love Tyler and Korey, and my thoughts on them and this podcast haven't changed since I mentioned them in a post I published back in 2016 called 5 Apps I Love, it's just one of those podcasts which I just can't get enough of!  It's like listening to two of your friends on some of the most hilarious topics and I can just potter around the house and listen on.  I'll even exercise listening to this and surprisingly it helps me stay moving haha

And there we have the 5 podcasts which I love to listen too!  All through this post I kept typing podcats.  Good thing for editing hahah

I can't get enough of podcasts.  While there are some days where I will just have them on in the background, study to them, fall asleep listening to them, they're also so helpful when I just need to calm down.  Yes music is great when I'm in need of calming down but listening to these podcasts, and concentrating on their voices and what they're saying does me a world of good :)

Are there any podcasts that you listen too?  Let me know and I'll lend them my ear and see what I think!!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

10 Thoughts I Have While Driving

I am a newbie to driving.  I saw newbie, but I've been driving for years.  And also avoiding driving for years because confidence and driving a car sometimes just don't match and I would think up any excuse under the sun to get out of having to drive.

However.  Guess who is driving now?!  ME!  Celebratory music and about times!

Driving can be scary and especially as a learner.  You're going slower than other drivers because it's the law and no one wants to get suspended and because you're not able to go at the full speed limit, you tend to come across a lot of annoyed drivers who clearly can't remember the distance they're meant to maintain while driving behind you.

It's a minimum of 2 seconds in Australia, fun fact!

I have many thoughts as it is but driving there are a whole heap of new ones, so without further ado....

Could you get any closer?  I know I'm a great driver and you just must want to get close to see how I drive but could you not??

I won't go any faster.  There are speed limits and I don't want to lose my license so I'm sorry but I'm going to stick at the speed limit!  And it doesn't matter how angry you get I won't go any faster!

Why aren't the traffic lights in my favour?  Some days you just hit every bloomin red light.  not physically hitting them because imagine the damage but something getting a clean run of green lights is the most satisfying thing

Please let the roundabout be clear!  Roundabouts and me (when I'm an a manual car) are not my favourite things.  I reckon I'd be fine now in a manual because I'm a more confident driver but ugh you need people to actually use their indicators so you know where they want to go!!  Or if the roundabout could just be all clear so you don't have to get frazzled that would be fab!

Seriously, if you get any closer you could join in on this conversation.  I immensely dislike people who tailgate.  Learner drivers have to put up with so much crap with other driving getting right up in their business and it's like other people have forgotten that they themselves where once a learner driver.  Just give us some spaceee!

Is that bird going to move out of the way?  When our bird pals just chill on the road and you're like are you going to hop out of the way because this is getting awkward and I don't want to have it on my conscious that I've startled or done anything worse to said bird.  Speaking of wildlife and roads...  How nervewracking is it when cats and dogs just run out onto the road?  Or if you're doing a night drive on a country road and you turn a corner and there is a massive bull just standing there.  True story and I'm so glad I've got control of mu movements because that bull looked menacing!

I do no have road rage thank you.  I never used to think I'd have road rage but wow has a sassy Emma emerged since she's been driving hahahah Most of the time it's kept internal and I'm just like simmering away with annoyance but on the odd occasion I will call a driver turd face when they do something stupid hehehhe

The.  Light.  Is.  Green.  When the light is green and people just sit there chatting away and the traffic is backed up and I'm there with people behind me getting angry because they can't see ahead of me and assume I'm the one holding everyone up and I'm like nah man chatty car up ahead won't stop chatting and all I want to do is shout the light is green but no we have to stay calm and just wait for them to finally move!!!  I have no road rage, I swear...

USE YO DAMN INDICATORS!  It isn't that hard to flick the dial up or down.  My biggest pet peeve with driving because you're there doing what you're meant to be doing and "more experienced drivers" get annoyed because you don't have mind reading powers to know where they want to go.

This reverse parallel business isn't so bad.  I don't think I've ever met a person who likes having to do reverse parallel parking.  Granted I've done them on extremely quiet streets where I had maybe one car go past so I didn't have to deal with a heap of other drivers but I found the actual movements of reverse parallel parking fun.  Yes I said reverse parallel parking was fun, but I reckon I'll change my views on it when I have to do them in a more hectic place hahah

Driving is fun hey hahahahha

I think deep down we all have a bit of road rage hahahha some are just louder than others ;)

Let me know what goes through your head when you're driving!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Katy Perry Witness

One of my favourite female artists without a doubt is Katy Perry.  She has brought out tune after tune after tune and my ears are not complaining!  I love her voice, her music, everything and was so excited for this new album, Witness, to be released!

Prism was such an incredible album, having so many tracks on there which are some of my favourite songs, I don't want to say I had high expectations but I was so keen to see what was going to be on her newest album!  And let me say, it did not disappoint!

Like her previous albums, there is something for everyone but because it's Katy Perry you know you're going to have a good time with this album!  You have upbeat boppy ones, more chilled out and laid back numbers and good old songs to just let loose and belt out the lyrics :)

While I am a fan of the entire album I do have a few favourites!  Witness, Miss You More, Chained To The Rhythm, Hey Hey Hey, Pendulum and Swish Swish are absolute tunes!  What I also really love about this album is while it's a pop album, there is deeper meaning within the songs, especially Chained To The Rhythm.  I wrote a blog post around this post which you can check out here, Are We Living In A Bubble?

It's one of those albums where I will have on and can't help but move to the beat, it's that good!!

I've read both good and not so good reviews of this album but that's just to be expected.  Everyone has different opinions, different music preferences and different expectations between previous albums and other artists, but this is just my opinion and I am a fan of the album!  It's interesting how people get up in arms when an artists new music isn't a replica of their previous ones.  I think it's great to see something different, so see a new side to an artist which I haven't really heard or picked up on before.

Everyone changes, and this is a 2017 Katy Perry.  Prism was released back in 2013!  My goodness 2013, that feels like ages ago and it kind of is.  Times have changed, people have changed.  The whole music industry itself is changing and evolving as we speak so I think it was to be expected that Witness was a change from Prism.

But hey, you can't please everyone!  I however, have been pleased with Witness!  Very pleased!!  I love this new era of Katy Perry and to see her live would be incredible so that's going to be added to my bucket list!!

Have you listened to Witness?  What do you think of it?  Yay or nay?

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

5 Blogs I Am Loving

One of the best things about the blogging world that there are so many blogs out there so you’re never going to run out of content to have a read of.  Contrary to what others may think, there is more than enough room for anyone who wants to start a blog and it’s so amazing to see more and more people starting their own personal blogs and having their own space on the internet.  A digital platform where we can be ourselves, speak out opinions and be creative - blogging is just amazing!

Through connecting with other bloggers, social media and just stumbling across other blogs, I have discovered countless blogs which I absolutely adore and today I’m going to share 5 blogs which I’ve love and want you all to know about!

The Blossom Twins - I published a post called You Cab Be Your Own Unique Niche and it was a post where I was a bit hesitant to publish as I didn’t know the response it would get.  I received the most supportive comments from these two gals and it was one of those moments where I just wanted to travel to where they were and give them a hug and say thank you.  These lovely gals blog about everything from lifestyle, to travel to books to health and fitness, you really are spoilt for choice!!

The Hels Project - I stumbled upon this blog through twitter and fell in love when I read her post on Revlons Ultra HD Matte Lipcolours!  Helen bogs about parenting (she has the cutest little bub), fitness and travel and you’ll see the occasional baking and beauty post there as well!  I love her writing style and her photography is so beautiful :)

The Small Adventure - Through a Facebook group, and then Instagram I started reading this blog.  It’s common for people to have series on their blogs and I’m the same but I have never seen a series on hot chocolates before and all I can say is hell yeah!!  You heard right, this gal has her own Warm Up This Winter Challenge where her readers get to see all these different hot chocolate recipes and although I’m more of a tea person, I am here for all the hot chocolate recipes!

The Sunday Mode -  Blogging is definitely something which isn’t as big in Australia as what it is on the other side of the world.  When I found The Sunday Mode and saw Julia was from Melbourne I got so excited!  On The Sunday mode you will find beautiful posts on everything beauty, fashion, lifestyle and travel and it’s one of those blogs where I’m like everything about this is just so nice!!!

Lucy-Cole - I just want to say flatlays.  If you ever want to see an incredible flat lay, you need to see how this gal does them!  I’m jealous hahaha  Lucy blogs about fashion and beauty and I just adore her writing style.  She can blog about anything and I will read it regardless!  I love her reviews and thoughts of products because she gives such a good insight to them and I’m left genuinely wanting to try them out :) and I want to mention flatlays because man they are good!!

So what are you waiting for?  Their links are all waiting for you to click so click on their names and you can have a read and add some more blogs to your reading list!  Go give them all some love :)

If you have a blog or know of a blog you think I might want to read because I always love finding new ones to read, please let me know in the comments!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

My Mini Blog Break & Spider-Man

Hello you lovely lot!

You probably saw that there wasn't a post up on Friday last week..  I'm an avid believer of if something isn't working to just step away from it and resume at a later time.  And that is why emmadaisy was a little less quiet.  You can't force blog posts to happen, well I can't because they never turn out great and when that happens you've just got to accept it and just get on with something else!

So I had a few days away from my blog and other blogging platforms and really I found it quite refreshing.  I remember when the power was out a while ago and it was like a social media detox for me and felt so great afterwards.  No drama, no competition, no negativity, it's great!  And I think being away from my blog did me a load of good!

Granted it's now Monday afternoon and less than an hour until this technically should go live on my blog so I hope this doesn't turn into an esay!

My weekend was one of my favourites that I've had in a long time.

I saw Spider-Man Homecoming on Sunday and heck it is one of my top favourite Marvel movies.  I don't know where exactly I would place it but oh it was so good!  Tom Holland is incredible as Spider-Man and I left the cinema (in my Captain America jumper) just wanting to watch the movie over and over again.

The soundtrack was insanely awesome.  So props to those people behind that because I was a huge fan.  And everyone in the movie was awesome!  Ned, oh my heart has a special place there was Ned.  Everyone needs a friend like Ned.

One thing I really enjoyed about the movie was the scale of it.  Other Marvel films have been intense.  Going into other dimensions, worlds, all over the place.  And this one was just scaled down so much compared to the other and I found it a lot more realistic and relatable.  Sure I am still sadly not in the Avengers and no aliens are trying to attack Tasmania (or are they...?) but it was a movie where I was like hey I could fit in here.  Helps that I'm the 24 year old who doesn't look her age and people still think she's a teen!

I'm still hopeful that my wish for the New Year of me becoming an Avenger will come true so only time will tell!

And Caps little scenes.  Can we just appreciate those for a minute?!

The weekend was just a relaxing one.  Sunday morning (this post clearly isn't in chronological order...) I went out to breakfast with the fam and got my usual half serve of the vegetarian breakfast!  I'm going to be trialing being a vegetarian for a week or so and seeing how I go with it.  I don't eat all that much meat as it is and really don't enjoy eating it so I'm looking forward to this little experiment!

I had a MasterChef marathon with mum as well!  We're sosososososo far behind it's not funny!  On tv now it's finals week and we're weeks behind so I don't know what is going to happen hahah  I love this years contestants.  They cook some amazing food and they also seem like such a lovely bunch.  I want to be friends with some of them and last night mum said she wouldn't mind if I dated one of them and I laughed but wouldn't say no if it happened hahahah

And The Good Karma Hospital!!  Does anyone watch that program?  I am obsessed!  Didn't know what I'd think of it but it's easily one of my favourite tv programs!

And now we are at Monday and it's been a bit of a gloomy day but I am a lover of the colder seasons because you can cosy up!  I'm now a pro at lighting the fire at home which my family loves because they'll come home and the house is cosy warm!  I don't like when it spits at me, I must say.  That is a bit rude if you ask me!!

I hope you've all had an awesome weekend wherever you are?  What did you get up to?  :)

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

5 Powerful Quotes For The Rest Of The Week

Like so many other people, I am a lover of quotes.  Short ones, long ones, doesn't matter!  I love them!  Quotes can be ticked off as such underrated strings of words that are just cheesy but the impact that they can have on people isn't one to be pushed aside.

I've picked 5 of my current favourite powerful quotes to share!  I also have a Pinterest Board, Words and co. which is full (and I mean full) of inspiring words :)

Words can and do have so much impact.  We should always be spreading posivity and happiness in the world!  Remember, it doesn't cost anything to be kind :)

I found these on Pinterest, you're always going to find some good words over on that beautiful place!

Also I am loving the fluff of my cushion I got from Adairs, it's working very well in my bedroom seeing as we're in the colder seasons!!

Do you have a favourite quote?  Let me know so we can share the inspiring word love!!

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

Celebrating Your Achievements

On Sunday, I had a full day of music.  And I'm buggered now and want to sleep but that wouldn't be the most productive day out there!

It was a hectic day.  For the morning session I ran tutorial sessions with the clarinets and flutes and that was interesting.  You definitely get a sense of what it would be like being a teacher and it's without a doubt an eye opener!  You get to work with so many people and they're all different and what works for one, won't work for another.

And the you will always gets ones who won't stop talking and then don't like when you ask then to stop.  And then there is that awkward tension in the room but hey we're there to make music not talk about memes and shoes!

And then in the afternoon, I had a rehearsal with the senior music people.  And if there was anything that I should take away from those hours of rehearsals was to celebrate your achievements no matter how big or small they may seem.

I've probably rambled about this before but for a set of championships I've got at the end of the year, the A-Grade test piece is Year Of The Dragon by Philip Sparke.  It's intense, makes my fingers feel like they're going to dislocate or snap, and it has seemed like an impossible task to achieve.  However we're making progress and that should be celebrated.

There is a bit in the song which is stupid for the clarinets.  I say stupid and I mean stupid and Philip if you're reading this, why?  Why is it like this because I'm having to slip my finger because my clarinet doesn't have an extra key and my pinky finger is hating me?  Also why if it just so hectic for clarinets full stop?

Enough complaining Emma hahah

So the stupid bit of music is hard but yesterday there were so many times that we got all the notes in the right place, in the right time and it sounded exactly how it was meant to sound.

So when we stopped, I had to say something to the clarinets.  Because we've all been working so hard, especially on this tricky bit and our hard work is paying off!

You wouldn't believe how much spirits were lifted after I said that.  That little boost of confidence did so much good and it was like everyone just took it up another gear and just played their hearts out as best as they could.

I was so proud and after that rehearsal, I was motivated to do even more practicing and for about an hour I went over one bit gradually increasing the tempo.  Although I think I have to double the tempo which I'm playing at, atleast now I'm getting some muscle memory of where my fingers are meant to be and just watch out world when we have to perform it in September!!!

So.  Moral of this blog post on a Monday.  Or whatever day you're reading this on.

Celebrate your achievements.  No matter how big or small.

Say it out loud, give yourself a pat on the back, maybe treat yourself if you want.

Celebrate the achievements of others.  Lift their confidence and give them that boost of motivation :)

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

What I Picked Up Down Hobart

I realise my title for this blog post could sound a little odd..  I didn’t pick up anything sinister!  Just a select few goodies which I’ll be able to put to good use!

When I went to Hobart, a store I wanted to visit (emphasis on wanted) was the one and only LUSH!  Sadly there isn’t a Lush in the north of Tasmania where I live so the only chance I ever get to have Lush products is when either a friends gifts me something, or I travel to a city which has a Lush store!

Give us a hoy in the comments if you’re keen for some Lush reviews later on?!

Eau Roma Water, Toner Water.  My friend Amity was looking at toners for herself and she suggested this one to me!  I love rose water for my skin and also couldn’t leave it on the shelf as it smelt divine!

Yuzu And Cocoa, Shower Cream.  I have always wanted to try the shower creams from lush and this one smelt amazing so I had to pick it up!  Cocoa is just a winner for me and I don’t think I’ve ever had anything cocoa related in the shower/bath so I couldn’t resist!

Guardians Of The Forest, Bath Bomb.  Not going to lie, I thought it said Guardians Of The Galaxy so it just went straight in my basket.  It’s the Marvel lover in me hahaha but I’m glad I did because forests and greenery are equally as amazing as Marvel!

Dragon’s Egg, Bath Bomb.  Anyone who had ever used this bath bomb recommended this so I had to pop it in my basket!  It also smelt a.m.a.z.i.n.g!

Also, this post isn’t sponsored or anything like that!  I’d be surprised too if it were hahah

I also didn’t want to leave Mona without doing minimal damage in their gift shop.  I always like to get a little something from wherever I’ve visited and Mona is such an iconic place in Tasmania so I had to get a thing or two…

I’d like to think I exercised very good self restraint because the books they had in their gift shop OMG I saw a few that I really wanted to buy but them dollars would have added up and also I didn’t bring a huge suitcase with me haha  I grabbed a black tee and also a notebook and pencil because Emma has no control over stationery!  The tee will be a comfy one for home days of wearing out with jeans and if I had a chunky cardigan to wear over the top it would be perfect!

And yes, I had to pick up the pencil and notebook!  I just couldn’t resist adding more to my ever growing collection hahah  I was going to use this notebook as my blogging notebook but it just didn’t feel right and have found another.  But hey now I have a Mona notebook and pencil haha

And the last thing I want to mention isn’t something I bought myself, it was a gift from my favourite euphonium Amity!  I had mentioned that years ago I had the perfume and when I arrived down Hobart I had this wrapper up package waiting for me!  Inside was this beautiful Elizabeth Arden set which included the Green Tea Scent Spray, and two Green Tea Refreshing Body Lotions!  The perfume has a fresh smell and one that I love and am so happy I’m able to wear this scent again and I’m looking forward to seeing how to other two products go as I’ve never had them before :) thank youuuuuu Amity :) xx

Other than this the only other things I bought were food hahah

Hobart is a great trip away from my home city because there are sooooo many more shops to browse in and then you get back home and it's like oh....  But then Launceston has some unique as shops which can't be found anywhere else so it's all worth it in the end!

But that is all for this post!  Let me know what you think of what I got and if you've used any of the Lush products!  And if you want to see my thoughts on them when they've been used, leave a comment below :)  I've previously written review posts on them in the past so might be nice to see some more Lush goodies on my blog :)

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

A Change In The Same Direction

Deciding what you want to do with you life while you're young is crazy.

From being considered a minor, you're then flung headfirst into making decisions and that is daunting.  Very daunting.

In my final year at college, I was 18 and went through about 6 career changes.  Nursing, teaching, science, becoming a photographer, working with children, but everything always came back to me studying something to do with design.  And it was a toss up between architecture and interior design when it came down to it.

In saying that I've had a rough idea of what I've waned to do.  I've always been interested in design.  All of design, I love it and followed through with that passion and to study interior design at university and graduated last year.  I adore interior design, absolutely adore it but I also love other bits of design.  I love design as a whole, everything that goes into design I love.  I dabbled with the thought of me going back to uni and finishing off the degree but doing architecture (heck).  Honors was and is also on the cards for either next year of later but something else that has always been in the back of my mind is graphic design.

Like I said, I love everything to do with design.  And I've always been interested in graphic design.  I may not have vocalised that love but it is something I've noted.  Was quite funny, at my music rehearsal someone said to be "oh but you've never mentioned that you like graphic design"...  Yes that's true, but I also like pottery and alpacas but you don't hear me harping on about those either!!

Last week I went to an information session for a graphic design course.

So I'm looking at a change in the same direction.  Still in the design field but having a look at another aspect of it!

Doing this graphic design course will allow me to better my skills with Adobe products, understand more within design, meet more people in the industry, I'll grow as a creative and really it'll have me engaging my creative side.

Lately I have felt swamped with the options that I have.  And it feels weird to have so many options but to feel swamped by them all.  I could further my degree in interior design and do honors, or I could go back to university and study architecture and be an architect on top of me also being an interior designer.  I could go and study teaching at university and follow that path or I could go and finish the Bachelor of Musical Arts and then look at having a career in music or teaching music.  I could try (emphasis on try) to get a job, any job and just work (work work work work) and then look at things later down the track.  I was also asked whether I'd consider my blog as a career but this little space on the internet isn't up to that stage haha no where near it!

So I have felt a little swamped.

I should be having an interview with the graphic design folk soon and I'm hoping I'll be able to sign up and start as soon as I can because I'm itching to getting creative again!

So I'm making a change in the same direction.  I said that before but saying it again never hurt anyone!  Whatever happens, I'll keep you posted as it could change my schedule and I'll also have new content for you all which is exciting!  I'll try to keep the complaining to a minimum because we all know how I was when I was studying at university?

Has anyone else made changes in their life like this?  How did it all go for you?  Everything it an opportunity for new experiences so I'm looking forward to it :)

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx
